My Ride: 2006 530i
2006 530i with 102k on the clock. One owner, black on black with navi. My friend is asking 16,500. NADA value is at 17,000. Been driving it for a week and as you'd guess, it's been great, better than my 325ci.
The bad: needs spark plugs, transmission servicing (trans oil pan needs to be changed, small leak), rear left knuckle, passenger safety light, just burnt an angle eye bulb, alignment.
All the work sounds like normal wear and tear (airbag light should be covered under recall). Should I pull the trigger? Any input? Yes I like the car, but my guy says 102k is too much.

Is this a legitimate question, why would you want to buy any car let alone a BMW with 100k+ miles? It's like your asking for something to break down and paying and arm and leg to getting it fixed. BMW parts = mucho deniro, 100k+ miles = wear and tear. Get something with less miles, if it's out of your budget then don't get a BMW get something else that's in your price range. It's not worth the risk of something breaking down that's my 2 cents.

I have seen several 2004-2005 BMW E60 with 60-70k miles...decently optioned...for $14-$15k...keep looking...maybe if your friend fixed everything 16.5 is good. Has the water pump been replaced? If not then add that to your list.

I'd say a little high for that mileage, but it is up to you to do the research on comparable cars. And him throwing in the repairs is definitely a plus, but you have make sure they are done by someone who knows how to work on these cars right. Bad repair job will cost you more in the long run. Ditto for parts - I recommend using ONLY original BMW parts.
Good Luck with the purchase, whatever you end up deciding

I'd buy it. You know the car, know the history, buying from someone you trust ? I buy German because of the quality, and am willing to get dirty fixing them when they/ or if they break. That engine will last foreever if cared for.
My last three , 528,735,745 all went to over 229K before I sold them and everyone was bought used with at least 60K on the speedo. Check it's mechanicals closely for what is not obvious.
