I was looking at the foglights today, and while they are much brighter and "whiter" in color than the fogs on my last car (which had xenon headlights, but not fogs), and i wondered if the fogs on the 550i are truly xenons too, or just closer to a xenon intensity and color than the fogs my last car.

I really like to run the car in the day with the parking lights and fogs on together, but only when the two colors of lights blend well.

Can anyone answer this silly little question?

Also - has anyone swaped out foglight bulbs, by the way? I'm not a heavy modder, but would be inclined to do something that minor...

Unless the foglights on the 550i are different than the ones on a 530i, no they are not xenons.

Although I wonder if I'm reading your post correctly because my foglights aren't very white at all.

 

Well, I guess I only use the "white" adjective, as the ones before were a maize, hazy yellowish white, so these, by comparison, look brighter white.

 

I just checked the BMWUSA website (which I should ahve done earlier...) and for the 550i, it says the car has...

Halogen free-form foglights

Next question. What does that mean?

 

They're not xenons. You can buy some xenon match bulbs though. I have the HOEN's which were $29.95.
