My Ride: Alpine White 2010 535 M-Sport
Hello all, not new to BMWs..I was basically raised in the backseat of a 1970 BMW Bavaria, and my first car at 16 was the family hammy-down 1984 733i, but I finally purchased my first BMW, a CPO 535 M-sport last week. After putting some miles on, next in order was to find a forum, and my search landed me here. Im excited to join and expect many unproductive hours at work reading through E60 posts.
I do have one question that I would love input on. My 5 came with the 18x8 style 135s with run flats. I asked the dealer how often or if I even should rotate these types of tires. The response was "you can if you want"..I know on my Dads 650i they say not to rotate, specifically because of the off-set front to rear. Can any of yall provide advice as to how often to rotate and pattern..or not at all. Thanks!

I'm not positive on your particular vehicle but if they are staggered then you cannot rotate from front to back, and as far as criss cross rotation it depends if they are directional tires. To check if they are staggered, look at the tire sizes of the front and rear wheel and see if they are different and to see whether or not they are directional see if the tread point in a specific direction. If both of these are true then they aren't rotational in any direction, however I'm pretty sure the stock BMW tires are not directional so go have a look and find out.
As far as how often you should rotate your tires, that is up to the driver; most people rotate their tires every 5,000-10,000 miles.
