It'll be whatever bitrate that Windows XP uses as a default for burning CD's. I've never looked into the detail or changed any of the burn settings simply because I've never had any problems playing any CD I've burned using Windows (if it ain't broke don't fix it!).

The bitrate of the MP3 is decided when the tracks are encoded in to .mp3 format using whatever software is used. Once the software is converted to mp3 format, the act of burning to CD does nothing to alter this bit rate. Obviously the highet the bit rate the better quality, but larger the file.
I hope that makes sense.

My car is a late a 2004 model with the Professional satnav and originally couldn't play mp3 CD's. I had the car's software upgraded last weekend (which my dealer did for a bargain ?70 even though it took nearly 4 hours to upload) and now it is happy to play home burned mp3 CD's. I've also got the benefit of all the new iDrive menu's and colours!!
