Notice the guy that posted the picture is from the UK. In the UK if I am not mistaken they use miles instead of KM. Someone from the UK can purchase his car in Germany and drive home to the UK by putting the car on a ferry, or drive from the UK with the aid of a ferry for a weekend of fun on the German Autobahn.

How about the right-hand drive?? If anything, that should have tipped you on where the car/driver were from...

Yeah I noticed the right hand side steering wheel. I just thought that the UK uses KPH, but I am mistaken.

We drive on the left, use miles per hour, buy food and stuff in kilos (apart from the 1/4 pounder at Macs), buy fuel in litres and pay for it all with pics of the Queen.

Hey Merv!? That steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car!? ? ?

Here is my shot from a drive we took from Rothensberg, Germany on the way to Luxembourg.

One thing about going these speeds is shit comes at you FAST!!? It was scary as hell but thrilling, too!?

My car was in 6th gear on the SMG tranny.? The HUD read out 152 mph and would do no better.

Forgot to mention, I read somewhere that the speed restricters fitted to BMW's can be a little inaccurate giving higher or lower reads around the 155mph (250km/h) mark. Hence perhaps why you only got 152mph. (ONLY )

Thats 206mph. Is that pic for real or just a clock test you can do through I-drive?

Well, the speedometer may be a little bit on the optimistic side, but Alpina claims around 200 mph for the B5; looking at the other indicators this pic should be for real.

Indeed! We buy fuel in litres but measure consumption in miles per gallon! km per litre is alien to us!

What's the fuel consumption like at that speed???
[/quote]
I found this article on the 330Cd from the BMW corporate site: link

At 50mph it did 53mpg, declining by about 4mpg with each extra 10mph to 31mpg at 100mph. At its maximum speed of 146mph it was still travelling 15.5 miles for every gallon, or about as much as some V8s with similar torque at an amble.

I'd guess at 155mph a 535d would be doing about 10mpg!
