Sure you can rent a Porsche in Germany, that just depends on how muck money you want to spend...

I don't know how they class a Porsche in Germany, is it like a Mustang in the States?

That's quite amazing really... I guess you have to have your eyes glued to the road at that speed! Most I've done is about 130mph at that was quite scary - passing cars (doing about 65-70mph) on the motorway as if they were stationary!

Just think - 130 MPH is about 80 feet per second. 80 FEET, that's roughly 26 meters. Something happens, or you lose your concentration for .3 of a second - about the time it takes to blink, and you'll be WAY across the highway or WAY in the ditch or wrapped around a tree or several other cars going the other way.

Be careful out there folks...

Ok yes I know its dangerous but before we tried it up to the limit we made sure the road ahead was either free or that any vehicles ahead didn't look like they were going to pull out etc. The German Autobahns are designed for this sort of speed and because its derestricted you don't need to worry about the law enabling you to concentrate on the road. The E60 is very stable at that sort of speed too.

Whether you try the top speed or just cruise at 130mph the Autobahn has to be experienced!

....nice pix, wonder what she'd hit without the limiter??? im still breakin in my car, but in 6th gear im only turning 2000RPMs at over 80MPH...extrapolate that to 6500RPMs and this thing seems like she could easily hit 180 if delimited!!!!!!

Nice, looks like the limiter does not hard limit at 150? What does it feel like when you hit the limiter? The engine no longer response to additional gas input?

I'm still not 100% sure how the limiter works. Up to an indicated 157mph the car pulled steadily and then then you could distinctly feel the pull just stop like a switch had been depressed. I had four in the car plus baggage and was in 6th, it may have gone a bit faster If I'd got near the redline in 5th then changed to 6th and with no passengers.

As for the topspeed: Most tuners claim around 310 BHP ,650 Nm torque and 175 mph so I guess without limiter a regular 535d like mine should reach around 165. As for our Autobahn: you don?t get to drive that fast very often: there?s lots of limits OR lots of traffic, but from time to time when everything fits it?s fun and really no problem for the car. If you REALLY want something exciting go for the N?rburgring Nordschleife!
As for Porsche rental: little bit tricky, at least for the 911. It?s quite rare and you have to have at least 2 creditcards.

I just know it will not be that easy, 2 creditcards is not a problem I have like 7 from applying different credit card because they give out welcome gifts and different credit card have different privilages in different shops.

So what exactly do you mean tricky?
