Iceman, you might be mistaken look here

http://www.germancarfans.com/news.cfm/news....004/bmw/1.html

even though navi business comes with radio prof they say that only navi prof can decode mp3s, a bit weird that

That's DEFINATELY wrong!

We even have members here on the forum (from EU) that have nav business and can play MP3's after CIP 16.2 upgrade. Also, if you look in the official BMW brochures, it says, radio professional with MP3 decoder. BOTH nav systems HAVE radio professional.

THEY ARE WRONG!

Actually I have read across the article and found this quote:

while the Professional radio option now includes an MP3 decoder

That quote is correct!

It means NOW radio pro can play MP3's.

Both nav systems have radio pro...

Just be aware that if you are in the US, you need pro nav to get radio pro. And with having pro nav the MP3 suppodrt will be enabled by a software update in September.

Actually ICEMAN, it appears that post week 9 production, you do not need nav to get MP3 support. At least one member on the board with March production without Nav (but with Sirius) can play MP3, and another march production WITH nav and with Sirius can play MP3s.
