You correctly circled the electric lock solenoid. Look for internally broken wires that are not visiably damaged. Use a multi-meter to look for open circuits while wiggling each wire individually.

I'm planning to test if both wires are in close circuits.

For the test one end of the wire would be on the connector but the other where? In the AFS module or? It would be great if you post the wiring diagram.

EDIT: I found the WDS online on the following link: http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/r...0e61/index.htm
If I understood correctly, I need to measure for open circuit between the electric lock connector's pin 1 and 2 and pins 21 and 22 of the AFS module (located under the passanger's seat).

Okay guys, the problem was with the wires. I've solder all broken ones and everything is now up and running.

The easiest way to diagnose the wire problem when getting the Electric Lock Error is to measure the resistanse between pin 21 and 22 on the main AFS module connector using multi-meter as DIS GT1 suggests. There is no specific resistanse that you should get, at least I couldn't find one and I think what DIS is reffering to is to look for oper circuit, which is done by measuring the resistanse - if you have any resistance, than most probably your wires are fine - if not - look for broken ones.

Mine were broken between the connector behind the right wheel and the hole were all cables are getting inside the car.

DavidF, thank you again for your help, I really appreciate it.

Cheers!

Yes. Sure I get the random false fault message now and then on cold mornings, but generally the replacement alternate cleared up a lot of issues...mostly the erratic idle.

Is it possible to replace the entire from wiring harness, how difficult it would be when wires can't be repaired?
