Annoying Squeal
#1
Now that the temps have dropped into the teens, my little girl seems to have a cold. When I start her in the morning it sounds like she has a parakeet under the hood. The sound seems to be coming from the belts. My question is this. Is it the serpentine belt, the tensioner or the water pump. The latter two are covered under my warranty, the the former I could just do myself possibly. The noise eventually subsides as she gets warm but never completely goes away. Any advice?

Yes I know I've let the post lapse. Noise was getting worse and started to loose coolant. End result: Water Pump. Replaced under warranty. Now I just get the annoying squeak from the belts, I guess due to the cold and then it eventually goes away. Thanks for the help.

Suprising that they didn't suggest changing your accessory(serpentine) and a/c belts while they had the waterpump off. Just replacing mine after 5.5 years and 65k and they needed it bad. The belts were not really squeaking, but the accessory belt had lots of cracking on it, so squeaks or a breakage was not far behind.
