I was fighting a rattle for the longest time. It was definitely metal on metal, and depending on which way I turned my head, it sounded like it came drom either up front near the dash, or in the back seat. It was very inconsistent, and for the life of me, I couldn't locate it.

One day a few weeks ago, I tilt-opened my sunroof, and the rattle started. Turns out it's the metal wind deflector rattling on the underside of the sunroof, but only when it's tilted, no when it's closed or slid back.

So glad I found it. Now to figure out how to fix it.

Everyone eventually has that issue. The metal is too then for the heat it takes and bends. I coated mine with some rubber. Hasn't mad a sound since. People have different ways they fix the issue. Soon it will prevent the sunroof to close when sliding forward.

So update, I lifted the car up and made sure the metal plate underneath wasn't lose. It was not, however I did find a screw I had dropped back when I was doing the engine work. I was hopeful that was it, unfortunately after a test drive the rattle was still there.

My covers underneath are hanging on by a thread, some of the holes where screws would hold it in place are ripped and/or stripped so the original screws can no longer hold. I bought some clips from my local dealer and got larger washers to help hold everything. After another test drive, the rattle is still there, however it doesn't sound as bad and as loud as before. Could the under covers or anything else underneath be it?

I had the issue with the sunroof in the past and fixed that with some adjustments and padding. Plus, the sound doesn't seem to be coming from above me, it's definitely coming from in front of me somewhere, I just don't know if it's inside the cabin or outside in maybe the engine bay.

No noise or rattle when cruising at 30-40mph, engine mounts are fine. I'm losing my mind trying to figure out what this stupid rattle is!!!!!!!!!

You need a mechanic's stethoscope, before you drive yourself crazy.
