based on my research on this topic, it is "normal" according to BMW. I get the same sound going from 1st to 2nd gear. If i release super gently, I will avoid it. It also does this "click" in reverse. I hate it. Has to do with the Dual Mass Flywheel or something like that.

I'm new to my 6MT 535.... I got it because of the fun factor and also because my last 550 AT had tons of problems... do you find that the manual/clutch is virtually trouble free? I had 5 Japanese manuals before (which I drove hard), and the clutches all lasted 100k miles...
Let me know if there's anything I should expect with the BMW manuals early on. thanks!

I've recently noticed this as well. I refuse to believe it is 'normal'. I popped the hood and gave the engine some load in a parking lot to see if it had a lot of movement, but it looked OK. I guess that ruled out the engine mounts. Maybe something trans mount related?
