Thanks. I had the damages appraised the other day. And from what they could tell looking at the visible damages, nothing but a re-alignment of the bumper is needed.

The whole bumper seems to be a bit skewed, the license plate may also have to be replaced.. luckily nothing unrepairable

Phew thats good its all minor cosmetic damage... Much rather replace a bumper than have any body damage...

Problem was fixed today.. all it took was a short hour in the body shop.. everything snapped back into place as they were disassembling the bumper

Congratulations - I hope the guy paid for it. I'm not familiar with Norwegian law, but its risky to have someone go around their insurance and pay for repairs. Always notify your own insurance company (shouldn't effect your record if not your fault) and get the other guys insurance information. These guys can be well- intentioned and then disappear when a large bill appears.

sorry to hear that! I cant belive his excuss for backing into you, like you, Ive always been taught never to back up unless you are sure of your surroundings, luckily there wasnt a person behind him. Like you said, at least his insurance will cover it, but its still a pain, and all because someone drives like an idiot

pbsaj: He would be obliged to pay, but things are far more easily dealt with through the insurer. However I doubt the insurance company will claim too much money from the guy.
