I have noticed that with the DRLs on, you can't really tell whether the angel eye itself is illuminated, or if it is simply the reflection/projection of the headlight.

This is one reason why I am having the DRLs turned off, I just don't like the look either. It's either angel eyes only, or xenon headlights!
So with DRL's off do you have to manually switch the angel eyes on or do they come on in the auto position?

The angel eyes come on in auto mode with your lowbeams. If you want just the angel eyes, you would turn the switch to parking lights.

On the reverse, I'm getting my DRLs turned back on and I forgot if you have them, what happens when you switch to parking lights? Do they stay on with the angel eyes or they turn off and only the angel eyes turn on?

Really???? Are you 100% sure? If that's the case, I'm not going to re-enable mine because I would like to have the angel eyes on occasionally by themselves.

I just want to be sure because I paid money to get the DRLs programmed on and when they went away due to a software upgrade, I was about to go back and have my dealer redo them.

Thanks for the info.

Now heres a pic with the low beam xenons on... notice the DRLs are off. (only way to get rid of the DRLs is if you have your low beams on)

I agree 100%--no need for DRLs as they are not mandatory in the US!! It messes up the elegance, beauty, and uniqueness of the angel eyes. When you're in sunlight anyway, I don't think it adds anything in terms of safety or visibility, IMHO.

On some of the newer Audis, the running lights are xenons (at least I think they were DRLs) so I though the E60 would be the same and paid the dealer to turned them on. At that time, I didn't even know I can turn on the angel eyes by themselves. When they were disabled I was going to have them reactivated but after reading this...hell no. I like the angel eyes by themselves...more unique that way.

Thanks for the info guys.
