Hi Folks!
My newbie question:

Can everyone explain me what is correctly meant with ?angel eyes??
Perhaps with a picture?

Thanks

Dwarf
That's the "light ring" around the main headlights. Put the headlight switch in position 1, the angel eyes & eye brows will light up. Put in position 2, then main headlight, angel eyes and the eye brows withh light up.

I find it's because they aren't bright enough. Have you seen the E90 angel eyes? You can spot those from a mile away!!

Whilst out on a trip today I was in slow moving traffic and noticed on the opposite side of the road the distinctive fantastic angel eyes of a an E39 heading towards me which I noticed from quite a distance away. Seconds later an E60 came toward me with just its side lights on and I could not see the angel eyes at all. This led me to think do UK non-xenon E60's not have angels eyes or are they not as noticable as the older cars lights being odd sizes???

Anyone else notice this?
Mine is a Week 43 / 2003 year UK car without Xenon headlights and does have Angel Eyes. Just been outside to have a look in the dark and they are more of a yellow than a white light. My mate from work (BMW530) also has a has the same wk43 /03 car but with Xenon's on his and I seem to think his Angel Eyes looked whiter than mine last time I saw them. (Next time we're parked next to each other in the underground car park at the office, I'll get him to compare them with mine).

Here's a couple of pictures I just took and downloaded a couple on minutes ago

I have noticed that with the DRLs on, you can't really tell whether the angel eye itself is illuminated, or if it is simply the reflection/projection of the headlight.

This is one reason why I am having the DRLs turned off, I just don't like the look either. It's either angel eyes only, or xenon headlights!

Having looked at Kevs pics I realise now why they don't look clear, its due to the bright reflection at the base of the headlight thats blurring the effect and thats what I saw the other day.

The E39's lights didn't have all the reflective surfaces like the E60 does hence the better look of the angel eyes

The Angeleyes on mine are very blurred to, sometimes at distance, it doesnt even look like i have angeleyes on my car. I wonder if anything can be done to make them more distingtive?

Maybe replace the bulbs for Angeleyes?

I am sure maybe for the model year 2008 when BMW face lifts the E60 they might make the angle eyes brighter and whiter like the Xenon light source.

Can it be retrofitted?
