Big joke isn't it? Everything incl the angel eyes lighting up are controlled by software. BMw has gotta stop intergrating too much into their software.

 

This does looks like a common upgrade occurrence.

I wonder how many of us are out there completely unaware of the angel eyes off state.

Judging by the 16.xx version age, my bet is that BMW knows the issue, but unfortunately most dealers don't have a clue.

I have CIP 16.2 and the orange LEDs works fine. No issues here.

 

hmm...My dealer a two weeks before was trying to put ON orange leds but they didnt. And they say that they must replaced a new MODULL of lights.First they must order from BMW in Germany that modull. Orange leds was OFF when i upgrade my car with software 16.xx
Now dont know what to do?
If they replaced MODULL they must reprogrammed car again i think.

Maybe we must upgrade car with CIP 16.2. and they will go ON. Who knows , but it will be better to ask you dealer and we will see what will they tell to you. Maybe will tell you also for MODULL to change.

 

Probably the install of the latest software went wrong. Have it checked by your dealer.

 

I hadn't noticed until I read this, but can confirm that since upgrade to 17 last week this no longer works. Something else to worry about!
Do others think it is worth getting fixed?, the orange lights do look good but I often wondered if they could be mistaken for indicators from certain angles in the dark..

 

HAd my car upgraded to 16.x today to enable MP3 functionality. Just checked orange angel eye lights/LEDs on my car and THEY DO NOT WORK. Will call service department in the morning!

 

I think we need to clarify which lights are the ones that don't turn on. The amber LED's are not called "angel eyes". The "halo" rings around the low and high beam reflectors are what has been refered to as "angel eyes" since they were first introduced on the E39. Some of the posters above say that the "angel eyes" are not turning on, but then in their further explanation they say that the amber LED's don't turn on. So to clarify maybe you guys can post which of the following are disabled after the software upgrade, and which still work:

1. "Angel Eyes" (rings around the low and high beams).
2. Amber "eyebrows" (the slanted line above the complete headlight).
3. Amber "LED's" (the 5 small round LED's on the side of the headlight).

I'm postponing my trip to the dealer until I have enough mileage to do the first regular service (about 3 weeks from now) and also to have a specific E61 suspension issue taken cared of (my other post).
