BMW always leads the pack!

I rather like what Audi does... instead of copying and making the Angel Eyes they invent their own LED front eyebrows... sure the idea was sparked from BMW but they did something different. Instead of what you see on the Camaro JEEP etc.

Interesting comments...thanks guys. I'm with you on the flattery aspect, but when it becomes a dime a dozen, whose going to remember that BMW started this fad other than the BMW enthusiasts? I realize their are many design aspects to the car that complete the big picture, but the e60's headlights are one of the coolest. Now it seems it's losing its unique edge. Too bad the design industry itself has the hardest time pattenting things...

On another note, I think Audi is screwed because it's so easy to put a strip of LED's on the front of your car. But Audi screwed itself...instead of keeping it for the more coveted cars like the R8 and the S6, they slapped it on their whole lineup. Oops!

Ah whatever, let's just put 'em anywhere. Come and get 'em!

I bet Audi were pissed when they first saw Angel eyes. After all, it's four rings. It fits to Audi's logo perfectly.

At least they come from factory on the BMW and we don't have to bake our headlights at 200* for 20 minutes until golden brown in order to install them like the aftermarket guys.

I thought I read somewhere that Hella developed the lights and got the patent (not a copyright) on the lights. I say we start a new trend: angel eyes around the roundels on the hood and trunk. Let's see Honda copy that!

Everything gets copied eventually. Then, over time it is considered a styling option rather than a copy. Angel eyes look cool, so it's no wonder others want them as a mod.

I'll admit I had angel eyes on my previous car, 02 maxima. But now that I have a BMW, I don't like seeing them on other cars.

Well what I can say about the SAAB's eyebrows is they got it right...theirs is already white, where our latest trend is the change them from amber to white. Funny how that works..

Also Ill have to admit...I seen a black R8 coming towards me on the freeway the other day...and man I can see those LEDs from a mile away.....Freakin SWEEET..

That's what I thought yesterday when I saw what I thought was an R8 half a mile away coming towards me. It was a Mercedes C class heavily modified

I agree...LED is the way to go for visability. Below are pictures from an e90 thread showing off custom angel eyes that consist of a ring of LEDs. They are so close together you can't see the individual lights. In other words, it looked like Angel Eyes 3.0 on steriods.
It's funny when we start modding the original angel eyes, so I guess I'm a hypocrit. In any case, these look unreal...and a manufacturer should hop on this. As of right now, it's a custom retrofit.
EDIT: I just emailed the guy for kicks to see if it's possible to do this to an e60 headlight. Haha man o man...
