Two days ago my ambient / outside temperature sensor started to show faulty readings. Currently it's showing temperature about 10C degrees above the actual temperature. The temperature seems to be changing, so problem doesn't seem to be problem with short / open circuit. The temperature is not showing -40 as in the case of circuit problems it should.

Any ideas what might be the problem? I investigated sensor visually and it seemed to be ok. Didn't take it off yet (will it come of just by pulling?). Should I just try to replace the sensor and see if that fixes the problem or take it for investigation at local BMW dealer?

Currently the real temperature is +5 degrees and the car is registering +15,5 - 16,0 degrees.

Any help welcome! The car is 2006 E61 520dA.

Obviously the temperature sensor is broken. Get a new one.

Same problem with my car at the moment. I've just ordered a new sensor, and will try to replace it later on.
