On a drive from Charlotte to Houston I averaged 25-26 while keeping my speeds respectable. I believe the average was near 78 mph.

Rather impressive the newer 530's can get 32+ mpg...

My record is 1.190 km (739 miles) with a full tank (highways in belgium & France - average speed = 142 KM/H = 87,6 mph). This is just over 40mpg ... ! You can't beat a diesel for that !

How are you guys getting 30+mpg? I notice most of you guys stating 30+mpg gase mileage are driving 530s. I have a 525 and only get 24 mpg. Any explanation?
My 525 got about the same gas mileage as my 545 because I was always deeper into the throttle with the 525 to get quicker acceleration. On my 545 I don't have to hit the gas as much.

i'm getting 24mpg while driving ALL freeway. I take frequent trips from San Francisco to San Diego and only average 23.7 mpg the entire trip.

edit: my 525i only has 6k miles. will my mpg increase as the car gets older?

On most highway drives, I get 27-28 mpg if I'm easy on the throttle. I topped that one day driving downhill on the 80 from Reno to Sacramento and got 38 mpg since I didn't have my foot on the gas most of the way down! Going all the way uphill the other direction was another story ... 12 mpg.

Nice car man!

Where abouts are you at in NorCal?

I think that perhaps the MPG sweet spot is perhaps around 65 MPH. I was driving mostly backroads and it was stop and go at points. I also was accelrating pretty hard in DS mode to pass some Semi's on the road.

I think maybe even the non run flats were the biggest contributor. Does anyone know now much the stock tires weigh? The Continental Winter tires I have on are 75 pounds each. I swear that the stock ones were double that. I about bust a nut trying to lift them into the car.

My car has about 9000 miles on it and in my past experience has been that car and driver seem to know how to drive together at this point.

Thats pretty good. I average 24MPG around commuting to work, at a pretty good clip over--75-90 mph on stock wheels.
