So Hello everyone,

I was directed to this site from one of the M5 forum members.

I love the M5(E60) but whats not for me is the SMG transmission or manual.

I prefer automatic.

So here is my question is it realistic to say that I can get a Custom 5 series(possibly a M5 clone or something even better)
at a realistic price?

A 2006 M5 with 35K miles goes for 40K.

I am looking for a 06-08 5 series that is custom..wheels and quad exhaust is a must.

Also less then 40K miles for under 30K?

Let me know your thoughts.

I saw some nice ones in the classifieds..but either they were too old or too many miles.

Thanks again.

So .....you want to buy a premodded E60 that already looks like a M5 or are you willing to put in the effort and buy a stock e60 and mod it to resemble an m5? In a perfect world you may be able to find one that resembles an M5 (maybe in the complete sale forum) from time to time i have seen some pretty heavily modded e60s up for sale however you should be mindful that you may not find exactly what your looking for. AS go you may be able to realize your wants however i dont think there is much out there that is gonna have 500 horses under the hood. Whatever you decide GOOD LUCK. Your in the right place for starters. 5 SERIES FORUM=GOD

whatever you do.. please do NOT put the M badge on the back. You can buy an E60 with all the bells and whisltes modded to the max, BUT its still not an M5. We hope you realize that. You can have the quads, mirrors, vents, looks etc, the list can go on. Like Gsq stated you can also start from scratch and buy your own e60 and save some money SLIGHTLY and mod on your own to your own taste as you can afford it. I think that may be a better way to go. From personal experience Ive noticed that you should take your time doing things, cause your taste may change the more you know. Knowledge = Power..

IMO... buy an M5 directly! btw the M5 with SMG has D drive. There are plenty M5 e60 under $35K : http://autos.yahoo.com/used-cars/ove...stingtype=used

If the gas is a factor, dont buy an M5, go an LCI 550i instead with Sport automatic.

I would never put the badge on...I am looking for the m5 look in automatic,

D drive in SMG is not a automatic

There are modified E60s for sale from time to time but if I were you, just buy it stock and mod it to your liking. Also, when you buy a used car, never pay for the mods, or if you do, make sure it's heavily discounted. All car sellers know (or at least should know) that you can't get back close to what you spent on mods if you sell them with your car.

Also, from what I gather about your tastes, why are you even considering an M5? You don't seem to care about the power, suspension, etc. of the M5 and if you hate manual or SMG that much I take it you're not that into sports cars. It seems like the extra price tag of an M5 over a 545i or 550i is not worth it in your case. All you need to do is slap on an M-Tech kit, M5 replica rear bumper, quad exhausts, and OEM 166 wheels and bam, you have your M5 clone for a fraction of the cost. Oh and all the mods I just listed will probably cost you around $4k fitted and painted and if you find an LCI 550i, it comes with the M-Tech kit already.
