My Ride: 2008 528i Titanium Silver built 03/11/2007, delivered 04/25/2007,
Thumbs up

I personally really dislike all the wood trims. I love the aluminum but unfortunately not available on the '08 528i Im awaiting delivery for. I just don't think wood trims go well with a car like BMW. Maybe like Buicks or something. I'm wondering what everyone else's preferences are.

100% agreed, I vote alu, brushed aluminium is my favorite, especially on a black interior

My car, alu painted trims (stock anthracite)

Nothing to with wood, fake plastic.

According to the new EU LCI pricelist there are some free options,
grey and black high gloss trims to choose from.

+1

Wood also suits MB & Lexus
BMW is more of a sport car than luxury, and Alu interior looks great - especially with black leather.

Also, BMW wood is fake wood whereas Alu is real (mine always feel vey cool to the touch).

I prefer wood and, in fact, it is real wood - granted a very thin sliver of veneer and then covered with a plastic layer. If you look at different dashes you can see that each grain is unique and so is not fake wood-u-like.

Depends on the interior colour, I guess aluminium suits black interiors but I think it would look hideous with the beige interior that I have got.

I have to say though that the worst interior decorative panels were the standard "aluminium" ones put on the UK spec MSport. Think it was called something like "alucube" - really tacky and probably some kind of shiney plastic. I guess that's why they've discontinued it on the LCI.

People who could afford to upgrade did and those who couldn't had to live with the visual nightmare.

I think the aluminum is just awful and cheap looking, I'll take the fake wood every day of the week and twice on Sunday

ditto. alum just looks too loud and screams 'hey, look at me, i'm a sport car'. i like the subtleness of a sport car given by the wood, even if it's fake.
