Last week I got my TCU replaced. I saw in the invoice that they programmed the car and reset active steering. Well now my steering wheel looks out of aligment and it looks like the car need aligment. The car was fine before I brought it to the BMW dealer. Is the aligment service free in USA?

Before replacing the TCU

After I got the car from replacing the TCU

Grrrr! Why do dealers do this!!!? They messed it up, they should fix it... It's quick a simple (while you wait) fix.

This is not due to a front-end alignment problem. It is due to the failure of the technician who installed the software update to correctly align the steering wheel during Active Steering re-initialization. They either forget to do it or do not do it carefully. I have had the same problem. It takes about 15-20 minutes for them to fix it. You should be able to schedule an appointment and wait for them while it is done.

at least your keys in the ignition look the same before and after

sorry to see that with the alignment, I hate when they do not pay attention to details.... major details

He probably photoshoped a photo to make us understand better. Otherwise, I have a question for you. How do you know, when the car is stopped, if the steering wheel is aligned properly?!?

It's not the same picture. I took the pictures today in the morning. The picture where the steering wheel is correct i had to turn it myself so I can show you how it was before.

You are good ! I was wondering if somebody was going to notice that.
