Before you change the diversity amp,check the antenna on the top right side on the back glass.Mine was chipped from the rear sun shade.I had that fixed and problem solved.Good luck

Try taking the diversity amp out and clean up the prongs with a bit of fine sand paper and make sure they aren't bent to far down first and then replace the diversity amp if it doesn't improve.
If you know anyone with a E60 local to you that would be willing to help you test the amp, then you could try a simple swap over to quickly tell you if it is the amp or your rear screen if your not sure...

I found the range was longer if approaching from the rear of the car as your facing the rear screen / antenna, over time the distance at from any other direction diminished to the point you had to walk up to the rear screen to get it to register
Try taking the diversity amp out and clean up the prongs with a bit of fine sand paper and make sure they aren't bent to far down first and then replace the diversity amp if it doesn't improve.
If you know anyone with a E60 local to you that would be willing to help you test the amp, then you could try a simple swap over to quickly tell you if it is the amp or your rear screen if your not sure...

See Bloods post (#21) for a link to the replacement guide / pics it will show where it connects to the screen (antenna)
Good luck, if you end up replacing the amp you will be amazed at the distance you can lock and unlock from again

Where about's are you?I have one for sale that I bought a few month's back to replace mine but I sold the car before I got round to fitting it,part number is 65 20 9 193 832.
