my alarm/door remote isn't what it used to be. i remember in the good ol' days that i could chirp my car a good fifty feet away. seriously. but now i have to be about six feet away from my car to unlock it or pop the trunk. what's up with that? is the remote going bad possibly? i sure hope not because i heard that thing costs a fortune. has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?

The battery is replaceable. It is a CR2032 - you can find them at drug stores, auto parts stores, etc. Look in the Owner's Manual and it will show you how to swap out the battery.

or at my work for free. ha. now i'm trying to figure out how to open it up. there doesn't appear to be a seam as stated in the owner's manual.

umm the little hatch door or whatever on the fob, mine doesn't have one. there's only an indentation where the door is depicted to be located in the owner's manual. wtf?

Does it do it with both your remotes or just one? If both it's more likely to be a problem with the diversity unit in the car.

This problem has been brought up so many times and it`s been answered as many times as well.

Firstly your remote charges from the socket due to the fact you obviously don`t have comfort access, only cars with comfort access require a battery change in the remote. This info can be found in the cars manual.
Second the reason your remote has poor range is because the diversity amplifier is not working properly, do a search and you will find out how to fix it.
