I had the exact same thing happen to me a couple years ago and it is a very common issue with the e60. I couldn't find a solution and drove with the error for all this time but I recently soldered a 2ohm resistor where the plug would be and got rid of the error. Mind you will still have to clear the error with some sort of scanner. I used INPA using a Windows 10 PC or you can use an app called Deep OBD for mobile. Check this video out

I'm just going to clean the connector first because I noticed it worked before right after I jiggled around with that connector. That's definitely an indicator of a dirty connection.

I bought some electrical contact cleaner and cleaned the shiz out of that connector but still could not clear the air bag notification. I then disconnected the battery positive cable and connected it right back and was able to clear it no problem.
