Mine was like that when I first drove it away from the dealer. THey reset it and it seemed to work but ordered (didn't have one in stock) and replaced the control module for the airbag to make sure. Never came back - almost 2 years now.

It's pretty common with cars older than 10 years but not with new BMW's...
I know this since in our Club there's a lot of old BMW's.

My E39 had it come on twice in the 5 years or so I had it. Each time the dealer checked it and "no fault found" so just reset it. My wife had a Ford Focus which kept showing a fault with the airbag. Someone suggested it was caused by the wires to the seatbelt pretensioner sensors being "stressed" when the seat was moved backwards and forwards to the adjustment extremities. Have you recently taken either of the seats all the way forward or backwards when cleaning it which may have upset the sensors?

Same here.. had the same problem but the sensor had been replaced by the dealer. It took them about 3 days to get the parts and got it done though... <_<

Well, had the thing fixed four or five days ago. Working fine since my visit to the dealer. Today I get into the car crank her up and guess what? the air bag warning light is on. I never had so many visits to the dealr for little things like this with my Acura, well now that I think about it I never had any visits to the dealer to fix anything in 4 years. I still love the car but they better get it right this time.
