I have a 2008 535xi and the left headlight seems to me a little low compared to the right. Can I do anything to correct this on my own?

It will be to keep it out of eyes of oncoming traffic (for those that drive on the right side of the road)

When I first got my '07 with xenon adaptive I thought the same. However, over time I've become very used to the light pattern and "whiteness" of the light. So, unless something has gone wrong with yours, while it might look "low" it probably isn't.

I recommend you try taking a picture of your headlight pattern against a wall or garage door to confirm before you look for the instructions about making any adjustments.

There are two white dials w/ hexagonal insert on top of the left and right headlights. The outer one controls the left/right aiming. The inner one controls up/down aiming. You can adjust it however you like, just be careful not to blind oncoming traffic - xenons are crazy bright.

I just recently found out that the BMW screwdriver in the trunk tool box fits perfectly into the adjustment dials.

This is normal over time from hitting bumps and normal driving the headlights need to be adjusted. I adjusted my after lowering my car. Open the hood at night against a closed garage. Turn on your lights and grab a 6 corner screw driver end tip. There are holes on both sides on top of the headlights to turn and adjust. Pretty simple once you do it.

Yeah it's normal for the driver side headlight to be lower than the passenger side.

Mine seems to be a little different than the picture in the PDF. I am not sure were to adjust them.

I just figured it out. I don't think I have a left and right adjustment because my headlights are adaptive. I moved it up with the white allen type screw in the picture.
