A few days ago, I dropped my car to to get the eror message fixed AGAIN. I know there is like a million threads about this, but how many people here had to go to the dealers repeatedly? I don't understand--something about passenger restraint failing is no big deal for BMW or what?

Since my car is out of warranty--I'm going to be charged for labor. Being charged for something that i thought was previously fixed 3 times already! This is my 4th time to the dealers for the same error message over the course of 91,000 miles on the car.

I'm at a point where i just don't want to care anymore and click the error msg away and just drive. But whenever I pickup a passenger, I cannot stop thinking what if the airbag do not work?

you can try telling the dealer that.. i dont know about the US but rest of the world. since you have made the compalaint so many times under warranty they would consider paying for it or atleast spliting the cost..ask them if the part they originally changed came with its own warranty, and ask them since the problem occured even under warranty if bmw is willing to help....
good luck..

it may not be the actual restraint system. it may be just the sensor. just a thought.. then again i only had to get mine fixed once.

I just had mine fixed this week. They had to remove the passenger seat and replaced the sensor to turn on the airbag system. I had it done under warranty, so I don't know what it would have cost if I was out of warranty.

Thanks....... yes the dealer covered it under warranty. (a bit late on the reply)

Now, the bad news. Almost two years and for the 5th time, got the the dreaded "passenger restraint system failure"!
On a very positive note, I actually made it over 1 year without seeing it on the idrive.

In the past, I have taken the car to the dealer 4 times with 2-3 different dealers.
I'm hoping the 5th time is once and for all.

Had mine fixed about a week ago under recall. Also BMW has warrantied the part for 10 years due to failure. There's no way you should be paying for labor!
