After market through Idrive
#1
I have satellite radio prep in my '05 545, as well as Nav and 6 CD changer. I have been told that there is only one connection that can be utilized and the 6 CD changer uses it so I will have to lose that if I want to add satellite radio. So I have decided that I want to go aftermarket and add XM. Does anyone know if there is any way to split the connection so that both the XM and 6 CD changer can be hooked up into Idrive. I don't want to FM modulate b/c I want the Idrive to display the tuning of the satellite radio and I know sound quality is lost through an FM modulator.
1) Is it possible to use the antenna already in the BMW for aftermarket satellite radio (if so does it have to be sirius)?
2) Is it possible to display and tune satellite radio, XM or sirius through the Idrive (and if so do I have to lose the 6 CD changer in the glove box)?
3) Also, if the XM radio wont be displayed on the Idrive screen and antenna already on the car can't be used, if the XM tuner also stores and plays MP3s can the Idrive screen display and change tracks?
I really appreciate any help, thanks.
