Just wondering about the AFE intake set up for the 2008 535xi. Has anyone installed it? Any noticeable difference? Any gains? Any goods and bads about the product?

Thanks in advanced.

tracer342, if you click on the search bar and type in AFE intake you will be able to find TONS of threads regarding the power loss caused by AFE intakes. If you're too lazy to read through them, i'll make it easy for you. Don't get it! you will loose power.

Agreed for the most part, however the N54 engine on the OP's car is not as susceptible to heat soak issues (because they're turboed) as the NA V8 engines other board members had reported isues with. I would NOT recommend going with the AFE Open Cone Intake Systems for the non-Turboed engines.

See below link for "heat soak" technical testing on the N54 engine.

If you do a search on E90Post about the N54 AFE DCI, you'll find plenty of positive reviews.

Feel free to contact me directly if anyone had any other specific questions or concerns.

tracer just stick with the stock box, get a BMC/Helene drop in filter, and RPI scoops. you'll save a ton of money and actually gain power. RPi has dyno proven gains and you get the most bang for your buck.
