New to the forum. My wife and I are supposed to pick up an '04 530i Tuesday. Car is one-owner. I have the Carfax report and there seems to be several instances of "electrical system checked." I do know that the Active Steering software was updated. Car is immaculate outside and in. Should I be concerned about the 4 instances of "electrical system checked." This will be our first Bimmer. The test drive was as much fun as I've had since I sold my Datsun 280Z, which I wish I still had. My nephew totaled the Z. Fortunately he wasn't hurt seriously. Anyway, I digress. We left Sandy Sandsing BMW in Pensacola with a check, but the papers haven't been signed. Should I be concerned enough to look into an extended warranty, which would run around $2K or am I just being paranoid.
Thanks,
David

I'd recommend the extended warranty....worth the peace of mind.

Get the extended warranty as these cars have the potential to be money pits when they get older.

Don't buy the car UNLESS you have an extended warranty!! These cars are expensive to repair and fun to drive, so don't let one get in the way of the other!!

Very complex automobile, purchase the warranty. I would also challenge the dealership on why this particular car did not qualify for the Certified Pre Owned program with only 34k miles, assuming this is a BMW dealership. That would warranty the vehicle for 2 years or 100k miles. I bought an 04 530i last summer with 54k miles, and it was CPO. Good luck!

Till this day i thank GOD i got the extended warranty for my 2004 530i, if i hadnt i would have paid close to about 7k by now. Dont let them fool you, make sure you read and ask as many questions as possible. If your car needs tires and you show them your serious about buying, deal with them a little and tell them you want a new set. But for sure, warranty, warranty warranty is what you want.
