Default Adding usb charger in center console

My car comes with the AUX and USB connectors in the center console. Most of the music I play is via a USB stick. Just recently added the BlackBerry Music Gateway to have the option of playing music via my phone and bluetooth. To get power to the gateway I have to disconnect my USB stick, I'm thinking I can add a couple USB ports for power/charging purpose only by tapping for power to the back of the cigarrette lighters on the rear of the console using this (picture). The wires will be hidden and the only thing visible in the glove box would be the USB ports. Anyone with knowledge of the center console/box that can chime in on whether this is possible.

I don't see an issue with doing this. I would make sure this unit you have pictured doesn't draw any power if nothing is plugged in.

Good point, the usb charger has a small green light, not sure if that will be considered a draw. The cigarrette lighters are only powered when the car is in accesory mode or turned on, so no worries of drawing power when the car is off. Interestingly enough the USB port currently in the center console is powered all the time. I'm not worried about the USB stick using this since there's no draw, one of the reasons I bought a USB stick without a light or anything fancy.

For cars built after 9/2005 this is on the rear fuse F88. It is 20A. Don't think you'll have any issues.
