i got the latest systems software update the other day. i have active steering and don't know if it's the update to that or power steering, however there is a big difference now...much firmer and more stable in hwy driving. i make less steering "corrections" while driving now.

The rumour is that the amount of 'active' steering is the same but the amount of assistance has been reduced at lower speeds.

I have A/Steering now and whereas it is great for parking there is no sharpness (like my old E39) at high speed, which I believe is where you want it. I have therefore decided to not opt for it on my next car. Most Uk press have slated it. Finally both front tyres, after only 15,800 miles have worn out completley on the inside edge even though pressures are fine. Active steering the cause?????
