Might as well criticize our color choices as well.

Cool it Ken, I don't hear anyone beating up his opinion. I respect it. But in the absence of a response this thread would not have brought to light the fact that maybe early build cars had a hardware flaw that caused instability.
The picture below is taken last week with a car with AS. Hard to not argue that the problem might be fixed.

Sounds like I'm not the only one who needs to "cool it". I said nothing that requires cooling down. subterFUSE didn't seem to feel that my response needed to be cooled down. My point, other than the fact that this subject has been beaten to death in earlier threads, was that the minute someone expresses an opinion that is not in agreement w/ the majority of the members here, the offending opinion is quickly put down by a torent of counter opinions. I only saw one person respond to Merv's thread by saying congrats on the new ride. This was not Merv saying AS sucked or had some problem, he simply said he felt it gave him a better feel for the road, simply his opinion, no commentary on some fault in the system. Sorry for the ranting, but let the man have his opinion. I'm glad you guys love the AS. I love my car without it.

Something does not seem right with the pic -- 150 at 5,000 rpm. I was doing the same at close to 6,000. I was probably in 5th (steptronic, so was not really keeping track of the gear) and you are most likely in 6th.

what is all this fighting about opinions?? I find it silly he stated his opinion and people responded! now it might not all been in support of the original post, how does that make their opinions seems like beat down?? I mean if the same people all argeed with the original post, then we would have someone complain this website is filled of E60 zealots who feel BMW can do nothing wrong. I find it crazie we humans we are the worst @ what we do!!

Generally speaking, I think you can better predict and execute your turns w/o AS. My car doesn't hv it, but its turns are crisp and precise. I love not having it (not that I had a choice, car came w/o it)...heh.

No wonder you have less gas left in your tank!

This may be a stupid question but were you guys hitting the speed limiter or did you both just happen to max out around the same speed? (BTW, awesome resolution on the pic, fq1!)

Reguarding AS I prob wouldnt ahve gotten it but I was forced to with the sports package... so oh wells... its not that bad... but its not the greatest thing one earth. If I had a choice to save $1200 I might have opted not to get AS
