I've never used active steering. From what I understand its real helpful in parking and tight spaces. How does it behave at high speeds?

The option I most missed when I traded my 545 for my 550. Thought I could live without it in the new 550, but missed it immediately. Truly makes a 4000lb sedan feel like a go-kart. Some complain of a loss of road feel, I personally felt Active Steering enhanced it. Either way - I loved it, and if I ever get another 5 it will be on the car. No problem with high speed stability provided you switch out the RFTs.

Loved it until I got my first active steering malfunction. The car is going to the dealership in the next couple days, so we'll see what happens.

My Ride: 2011, X6 Hybrid . Alpine White , every option. 20" Conti' NON runflats,OEM trunk spoiler , LUX V3 AE's , HP Thunder Fogs , custom front bumper reflector delete........
The parking benefit is obvious , but at higher speeds it "tightens" up and provides an incredibly nimble road feel ...... you'll never go back once you've had it !!

I agree with the posts above. Great option, love having it, and have had no problems with it. Feels very natural on the highway and makes the car very easy to drive in parking lots and when turning from a stop (no more hand over hand 720 degree wheel rotations).

i have it and i think it makes a difference coupled with Sports pkg the car is fun to drive even with limited power from the 2.5 powerplant.
