Active Cruise Control Error - But no ACC is installed!
Guys, I'm a bit confused. My girlfriend says that every day or so, she gets the "Car and road message" on the dash for just a second. This is actually the ACC showing some sort of error, but the bizarre part - our 2007 525xi LCI doesn't have the ACC installed!
What gives?? Is that crazy or what? Any ideas?
Thanks!!

Please forgive the bump, but still having this issue with no clue of what's causing it. Every time I search, I find only my own post! Lol

Is there any cosistency to when the ACC displays on the dash (does it pop up when braking or when engaging/disengaging the cruise etc.)? Are there any other odd things going on on the dash? Considering how picky these cars are with having sufficient battery power, you may want to have the battery tested.

In doing a bit of research on what it would take to retrofit ACC, it looks like ACC requires a different instrument cluster (I'm not absolutely positive about that though). I'm assuming that's because of the ACC display icon (the pic you provided in post #4). If that is indeed the case, then perhaps your girlfriends car has ACC.

Seems as though it just pops up randomly, I can't replicate it. It's never happend while I'm driving, but for the most part she drives the car and not I. The battery is new, it was one of the first few things I did as preventative maintenance when I bought the car. I wonder, if you're saying the cluster is different, if this car was fitted with the system at one point? It isn't listed on the window sticker, however (I have it, the origional owner kept it intact). Wouldn't it be listed as an option? Also, no dome up front in the grill, but had there been a front collision, maybe this was not replaced.
Are there fuses for the system somewhere? Maybe I can remove them to be sure to pull power from the unit.
