My Ride: BMW 530d SE. Media Package, Sight and Light Package, Front and Rear Park Sensors, Active Steering, Dynamic Drive, Power Folding Dimming Mirrors, Active Cruise Control, Logic 7, Sunroof, Sports Steering Wheel, Advanced Aircon, Comfort Seats, Heated Seats, Oscillating Seats, Air Cooled Seats, Electril Rear Blind, Rear Heated Seats.... probably more that I have forgot! :p
Hi Guy's,
Had an issue with my Active Cruise Control displaying an error when I tried to activate it. Went down to the local BMW dealer to get it diagnosed. Result they came back with was that the ACC radar sensor needed re-alignment. Apparently even if it is a degree or two out of where it is supposed to be pointing the system will switch itself off and report an error.
However the dealer does not have the equipment to fix it as he says the vehicle needs clamping to a ramp or something and some laser equipment needs to be used to re-align it, which they have not got. Also to top it off it's an all day job! Rang round all the dealers im my area and found 1 who have the equipment to do it and they are 40 mile away. I am guessing it is going to cost about ?400 GBP just to align a sensor, WTF!
Anyone got any experience with ACC? Is this the only way to fix it?
Cheers,
Lee.

Wow!
How old the car? Always had that problem?
Any idea what caused the mis-alignment?

Have you tried adjusting it yourself?
Attachment 47868
Remove the cover and try to adjust the sensor. It might be pointing too much downwards after the bumper have been nocked.
That could be the problem
