Hi guys, have a 05 545i build date of May 05 which has never had an Idrive software since purchased back in Nov05. Just wondering if opting to have the DRL programmed by dealer will require them to update the software as well or if they can program it without updating software. Don't have Nav or L7. Is there anything included in updated software that would be beneficial to update from whatever version the car came with? Thanks for any answers!

I take it in the idrive menu you do not have this as an option? If you dont then it'll probably be an update you need, mine was updated to 10 August 2006 version and this option now appears in the menu.

Must be some European thing. Mine was updated to Rev. 31.02, just a few months ago, and I still don't have that option. Mine is a 2006 model year.

No option in idrive menu for drl as seen in some other posts. Dealer quoted me $150 to activate drl. I'm assuming that means it will be a complete software update? With my vehicle still being under the original warranty, would I also be responsible to pay additional for any modules that needs to be replaced due to incompatibilites with the software update?

I have a 2007 530i and the software was updated about (3) months ago to address the transmission jerk while stopping problem. Still no option for DRL in iDrive. My dealer charged me $75.00 to turn on DRL (which does not include the angel eyes by the way).

My dealer charges me $65 (.5 hours). I guess if we want to turn the DRLs off, we'll have to pay the dealer again. I don't understand why the Euro E60s get the option in iDrive. Must be pay back for George W.

You'd figure they'd program it into the baseline configuration from the factory. It's about added safety after all.

I have a CPO 2005 545i, and I had the dealer turn on the DRL's as a safety issue, they did not charge me as it was a CPO, so it was like a repair to them! As for the Idrive and DRL's, my Idrive (recently updated) does NOT offer the option of turning them on and off!
