So I took my E60 in for a anti-trap error in the rear passenger window the other day. The window was working fine( rolled up & down) but I would get a error once in a while. The SA told me that they couldnt replicate it, and ended up upgrading the idrive to 18.1. So I went to pick up my car after 2 days and soon as I get in the error pops up in the idrive screen. So I get the SA and he gets his tech who worked on the car and he was dumbfounded . After 1 hour they said the rear motor was loosing its memory and they orderd a new motor for replacment and started a PUMA case beacuse this is the first time they saw this. They did mention that the fronts windows are know for this kind of issue but not the rear windows. Will keep you guys updated...

Hey Nolan,
I see you're in Encino... which service center do you use?

I bought my car from Center on Van Nuys but they suck. I use Rusnak in Thousand Oaks. They dont give me the run round and take care me. My S.A. Joe is the "man" there.

I live in Sherman Oaks and take my '04 530 to Beverly Hills BMW. I had the same problem with the anti-trap on the right rear window. Instead of doing a software upgrade, they replaced the motor in the window and it has been working fine ever since. As an aside, when they took the door panel off to replace the motor, they broke the wood trim. Part was ordered and replaced.

I've had this problem since day one. The local dealer dealt with is a couple of times but it keeps coming back. Now...... I just don't bother anymore because it always disappears the moment you restart.

Do you mean that your window, when being closed, inadvertently opens with no obstructions? My front right window does this sometimes.

Yes, that is exactly what my window would do. I would go to the top, think there was an obstruction and then come down half way. The only difference is that my window did it all the time.

Yes. Thats the one.

However, there was once when I used the key to wind up the windows and the driver's window kept opening up halfway.(after closing) Reported the matter and the dealer changed a new motor for me. It now operates like it should.
