Thanks for the additional thoughts. I live in Columbus, Ohio, drive about 18,000 miles a year. There isn't much gridlock around here, certainly not like on the coasts. The daily commute to work is 13 miles each way, 9 miles of which is straight down the highway. Very easy commute. We actually don't get much snow, I grew up in Michigan 200 miles away and the weather is much, much less severe here.

I think I'll end up with the CA and the manual transmission; I just like to drive and my wife is comfortable using the clutch, as she drives my 330i fairly often and has for years.

What I have found particularly interesting is the comments about the color. You folks have brought up things I really didn't think about, and for that I'm sincerely appreciative. I an undecided between the jet black, carbon black and the dark gray (I forget the exact name at the moment). May be a game time decision; completely up in the air at this point. I have an appointment Friday to order the car and I'll keep thinking about it until then.

 

Actually, what you don't realize is that you can continue to make changes in your order until five days before the car is produced.

Some people have changed color multiple times.

Others (myself included)added in or subtracted options.

 

Columbus! Maybe you can keep an eye out for sleepyca31/redwhiteblue/quebecois for us! Just listen for the supercharger...

If you're a die hard manual guy then get the 6spd manual; but the sport auto is real nice.

 

I'm not sure what you guys are talking about, or what RWB is or isn't. I guess I could do the search of the archives as one person suggested. I do have a French Canadian name and I do play a little hockey in the local adult leagues, but that is about it. A week ago I typed "BMW 550 owners" into Google and this is how I came across the site.

 

Don't worry about RWB Rob, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to have a little inside joke with some of our veteran members.

If you really want to research the issue, you'll need to do some searching about a former (now banned) member named "sleepyca31" or "redwhiteblue" or "quebecois" who is currently living in Columbus...
