84.9p per litre, or 92.9 for 97/98 octane
That's ?3.85 or $6.75 a gallon (imperial gallon)
We're all bracing ourselves for the ?4 a gallon mark very soon.

The Euro octane 95 is about the same as US octane 91

You can see why diesel is becoming more popular in Europe.
40 MPG on diesel. Slightly more expensive, but cheaper to run the car overall. And cheaper tax (company car) as it's based on the CO2 output.
For those in the US, there's this thing called "Kyoto Agreement" which most of the world signed up to (except the US), to reduce CO2 production. Hence the "incentives" to use diesel instead of petrol, and smaller engines rather than big ones.

Wow. Thanks for the insight.
EXPENSIVE gas. I AM grateful to be paying $2.25 for 93 octane here in Florida.
However, I would think that the salaries paid to employees over in Europe take into account the high taxes, i.e, a $100,000 salary would probably be $125,000 over in Europe, or at least something along those lines.....

Not as an American earning dollars living in Germany! We do get a small Post Allowance but for the Civilian side it really isn't enough to keep up with the cost on the local economy.
It is a good thing I was able to cash in a few years ago when the stock market was doing well!

I wish it were so...Like gomac says European economy is taxes! Let me put you in the picture:
For someone living in Holland ( moderate to high taxes ): 9 to 5 -- 5 or 6 days/week :
Basic Salary 1000euros/month
Average Salary 2000-2500euros/month
Good salary 3000-4000 euros/month
Senior Exe/Director salary >5000euros/month
net figures...
So an average person with a typical 3 series needs about 250 euros/month
gas budget for an average 24000km/year.
This represents 10% !!!! of someone's monthly salary...just to keep a car going...
add insurance, maintainance...etc. and this is a fair case.
Someone earning just basic has a hard time with gas prices...
