What I did. $100 Bosch battery and gamble reprogram isn't necessary.

Result. Gas tank vacuum pump fails oddly one week later. $100. Then passenger airbag/seat tensioner warning comes on and dealer fixes this via battery cable which he says I didn't tighten or attach properly. $150. Tech says there are tons of voltage related error codes and need a BMW battery and registration. So one year later ( I'm in it to win it), the same battery and no problems knock on wood.

Next time. I'd buck up for a better battery. Think their called amg, mat glass European spec. But same plan.

It comes with a 36 month replacement warranty and 72 month conditional warranty. I figure if it dies again in 3 years, I'd have a new battery which is a win. If it dies after 5 years, i'd be happy to spend another $124 for a new one vs. $550 with coding which is a win. A WIN WIN in my book.

As you say, it will charge at a different amp. I'm not worried about damage to the battery since it can be replaced. I wonder if it will damage the alternator and/or other parts in the car. I guess after 9 months and no problems... it's all good.

Can someone register my battery for me. Someone close to Irvine or Fullerton, CA?
