Thanks for the report. I don't think I will be able to stand the wait for my car... it is killing me. Maybe I should just stay off this forum. Six more weeks, damn. I guess I will be glad I got comfort access though.

Tachyon, are you still going to install the m-kit?

Congrats!

Ive got about 315 miles on mine, 900 or so to go. I knows the feeling, want to punch it when camrys and hondas are passing me . But I know soon enough. Still need to get my clear bra.

Yes, the M Kit is still in the works ... but I don't have a firm installation date yet ... sometime in the next 2 or 3 weeks. Hey, it's just something else to look forward to.

Good luck with the wait markt540i ... you can make it!

Can you compare the sport seats to the comfort seats? While the comfort seats look nice (and felt great in the X5 4.8 I tried), the sport seats in the 550 seemed to fit me perfect.

Cool

Please forgive my ignorance if this is not a wise question: Does new engine have something like cylinder de-activation?

I am expecting mine to be delivered. I have delayed my purchase because of the start button. I hope I like it... (More likely, I "have to" like it )

Well I have had my car for 3 days and I'm used to the key/push button thing. I think its cool, and maybe it adds 1 more second to your normal operation of the key but I like it. The amzing thing as tachyon is sharing is that the gas mileage is the same as my old 530 as an average..actually i get better mpg in the highway ..most of my drive is city (70%city and 30% hwy). this last tank full I'm averaging 18.2mpg, 262 miles and still abit less than a quarter of tank to go. easily i think I can get 300+miles of a full tank where my 530 used to do
i think is becasuse the little effort the engine needs to move the car, combined with the 6 speed and valvetronic..the consumption is above average cars this level.
Knock on wood, bluetooth, nav, pdc and everything is working seaminsly.. bo problems what so ever, oh even the voice recogntion (bluetooth using with my blacberry7520) is perfect..i say the whole number in one shot and the sytem captures it..
Summary, this car is AWESOME and can not wait to pass the braking period to rev it a bit more..1000 miles an counting..to 3000 braking period

It appears that you have a definitive opinion of your new auto. Congrats on the 550. You make some good observations about the car. Best of luck.....

BMW does not have anything like cilinder deactivation as of yet. The use the Valvetronic to open and close the valves efficinettly so save gas and maximize power. Believe it or not, I like the start.stop button..I think is cool and does not bother at all..actually got used to it pretty fast.. the funny thing is when I went to install my tinted windows the guy had a huge question mark in his face when he ask me " where is the key" I laughed then he got into the car and was cluless how to start the car as he could not turn the key jajaja
