Here is the limitation on Discover Gas Card
"Earn a full 5% Cashback Bonus on your first $1,200 in annual gas and auto maintenance purchases"

With current gas price and my gas filling frequency (2 times/week or roughly 100times/year), it'd comes to $5000/year. The last $3800 only get around 1%. Not much.

http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html

TOP TIER Gasoline Retailers:

QuikTrip
Chevron
Conoco
Phillips
76
Shell
Entec Stations
MFA Oil Company
Kwik Trip/Kwik Star
The Somerset Refinery, Inc.
Chevron-Canada
Aloha Petroleum
Tri-Par Oil Company
Shell-Canada
Texaco
Petro-Canada
Sunoco-Canada
Sunoco is the retailer that still sells 95 octane here in NY. Not all dealers have it, but those in the nicer neighborhoods where fancy sports cars (Lambo's, Ferraris, Porsche's...ummm, E60's. Just kidding...hahaha!) are prevalent, do.

That why you talk to customer support and have them remove that restriction you will cancel your card.

OR you can have wife get the card too.

I heard good stuff about 76, but there really isn't any 76 dealers in SOCAL that I've seen.
What cha talkin bout, Willis? There is a 76 station right off the 73 by UCI. That's where I go for my 100/91 octane mixture before engaging in some spirited driving.

Thanks for the tip, Mike.
I'll give it a shot. Both wife and I will apply for 2 cards. After a couple of months, I'll call customer service for removing that restriction. Sound like a plan.
I don't like Shell gas as much as Chevron. Once I have the card, I'll go with Chevron all the way.

Really? Never seen it, I'll go find it.

Does 100 octane really effect performance on stock cars? I mean sure, if you're turboed or modded out, but completely stock?

Here's the address:

2690 San Miguel Dr, Newport Beach CA.

According to my dyno-butt meter, my car felt stronger and more responsive after the 100/91 mixture. Also, I walked heezy545i up top end a few weeks back. His car and mine are identical except for his being 6speed and mine SMG.

I was always under the assumption that by putting 100 octane fuel, the sensors in the car go out of whack and you get a knocking noise. Not only that, performance is also lost. Back in the evo days, running 100 octane was ideal and it didn't matter when you do it. But on e60, running 91 than 100 and back to 91 would cause something to go wrong or could just be a wives tale. Should I email mythbusters?
