Could be a lot of hype but I've heard that Chevron's Techron is good because it helps in keeping the fuel injectors clean. But then again, I have 285k miles on my '88 E28 and it's still running strong fueled exclusively with Chevron.

The best part about living on the east coast now, as compared to living in CA, is that we have 93 octane for Super. There is no 91. It's just 87, 89 and 93. All that was available in CA was 91 for Super. There are even a few gas stations in NY that have 95 octane!

As for 76, I always went there when I lived in San Fran. Them and Chevron were always good. The whole branded message of "Chevron with Techron" and those little colored bugs always sold me. LOL!

Just put in premium whereever you go and you'll be alright. I usually go to Holiday stations (in upper Midwest) becuase they have the best gas station car wash. The "Ultimate wash" is $7 with a fill up and they give you interior towels and spray down your car manually before you enter the wash....can't go wrong.

EDIT: I have Alpine white. If I had black or another dark color you can be sure that I wouldn't be frequenting an automatic car wash. I wash the car by hand in the nicer months, but when the temps are well below zero I do the gas station quickie.

The only gas I use is Gulf, I kinda know the dude who pumps my gas in the morning and he's really careful with the car, no drips or scratches. Stupid a$$ at the Exxon, took my gas cap off and put it on the roof of the car, something I'm sure he'll never do again.

Isn't your gas cap attached, so he can't take it all the way off and put it on top of the car? Mine is.

Nope, slot to hang it in the door but it's not attached.

california's gas stations highest octane is 91. although, there are some 76 stations, and only 76 carries it to my knowledge, that carry 100 octane. i know some members have used it.

I heard good stuff about 76, but there really isn't any 76 dealers in SOCAL that I've seen.

If you sign up for Discover Gas Card, its 5% cashback on all gas purchases no matter where you go. I have 3 separate cards for 3 separate benefits!
