My Dad just picked up a 2004 530 and it only has a single CD in the dash with an older version of iDrive and sat nav.

I have a 6CD player kicking round that BMW removed when fitting my iPOD adapter from my 2006.

Being a good son, I want to fit the 6CD player to my dads motor. All the connectors look fine in the glove box, but when I plug it in nothing happens.

Does the iDrive need reprogamming by BMW for this?

anyone know what they charge for this in the UK?

cheers,

Charlie

There are two things needed. First, does the pre-wired CD changer plug have light coming out one of the optical lines when the radio is on? If not you would need to find the optical distribution block and introduce the CD changer optical lines into the MOST optical loop. Second, you will need to program the CD changer function to the car unless there is a CDC icon in the radio all ready.
