MODS:M-tech front bumper, Painted Grill, Installed Aux-In, Garage Door Opener (Overhead Compartement), ///M Steering wheel, Wood hand brake trim, Wood gear-shift lever. 35% Tint all around.. Got, ACS Roof Spoiler, but not installed..

S8 if in the 7er so it can`t realy be the same group maybe S6.
I think in twisty roads 5er will win if ithas the right kit like the S8.

And finally, the Chevy SS which is claimed to get 60 in only 5.1 sec beaten like hell by 550i

lots of firends and non friends having Chevy SS were beaten hard by my 545!!! with a 550 you should clean the floor with them (LOL)

BMW CLAIMS 550 0-60 is 5.5 sec
AUDI CLAIMS S8 0-60 is 5.1 sec

EDMUNDS.com CLAIMS 550 5.6 sec & S8 5.6sec

Which is more likely to be correct ???

550isport, 400 lbs is actually a big margin. as you probably know, many of e60's parts are made of aluminum so it's very light, in fact lighter than the mercedes C320 and even the audi A4. To see how much 400lbs makes a difference, try have a few passengers in the car and you'll see the car will feel different. Also, BMW tends to downplay their performance stats, especially the 0-60mph numbers.

I agree with you on both points. But compared to the 1/2 ton difference between say a Cayenne and an X5, the 400. lbs difference bewteen the S8 and 550 is not so large. The old E38 was only 200 lbs. lighter than the current QE2, oops I meant 750. As for the 0-60 times, I think MB and BMW have never dwelled on this statistic since it is far less important in Europe with its high speed highways. These cars are geared to live at 100 mph+ (which reminds me of the face my business partner made when I told him I cuised to easter dinner in my wife's X5 at 110 the whole way - he said, "but it only has 225 horsepower" -as if any car really needs more on a U.S. highway) But lately I think MB and BMW are focusing on 0-60 times to sell cars. This might explain the super short 1st gear in my 550 steptronic that tops out at 30 mph.
