Has anybody run a 550i against a 545i with the same tranny combo?
Just curious as to how big the difference is?

(My '95 M3 was a 3.0 and my '98 M3 was a 3.2 and aside from a little more torque, there wasn't much difference).

I don't know a thing, but am interested, duh, too. Are you still thinking of getting new times for the "G-Meter" thread? Hope so.

I got f'n stuck in the snow yesterday (first time in I don't know how long - granted they didn't plow my road for about 7 hours). Even with 4 snow tires the E60 doesn't do well pushing 8" of heavy wet snow. I parked the car and worked from home.

Needless to say, conditions don't warrant any accurate Gtimer times.
Maybe in a few more months.

Cool. I forgot where you live--was thinking Fla. But, that wouldn't make sense since I know you have winter wheels/tires.

Exclamation

EBMCS03 time for us to trade in our 545i's for 550i's!

0 to 60, 0.3 seconds quicker tops

1/4 mile, 0.5 seconds quicker, 5mph faster trap speed

By the way would 0.3 seconds in 0 to 60 mph mean about 1 and a half to two car lengths ahead?

Yes these are only guesstimates! Flame suit on...

I did but not with a 545.. a 745 with chrome getto rims try to play smoked came out of his exhaust, i shifted into DS. move to his right and passed him rather easy and started pulling away until i decided it was not safe so i backed down and he continue.. point proved. so my comments is that in low speeds 40 to 60 thereis a bit more fight from the 4.4L engine but after that the 4.8L is strong and pull away..
ps: similar instance happened witha 645cic where i pulled away by 3 cars (if not more) and had to exit again with chorme getto wheels . (i particularly dont like the chrome wheels but is my taste and opinion).
