Looks like fun, but what's that noise all about, was the camera rattling?

Not speaking for Richard, he'll show up again and say for sure, but I think that 550i is either wholly or mostly stock, at least that's what I remember when he put up his first VIR track day several months ago.

Thanx for the replies. I was busy this evening. Here are the answers.
Yes, the only mods are a Remus exhaust for the sound, and high temp brake fluid (ATE Type 200 for compatability). I'm not sure what's next but dedicated track wheels/tires and possibly more track ready brake pads would be good.
Correct, I was in manual and controlled the downshifts of the SAT but let it upshift at redline except for the first lap and much of the cold early session where I kept it below redline. I also had the sport button pressed. Usually I had it in DTC mode for a lap or two then DSC full off. The last session was DSC off the whole way. I found it very easy to control the attitude of the car or to correct minor issues when needed. Turn 4 often caused the back to kick out but no problems.
Correct.
I've got a headrest mount. Its just 2 bars that screw together with holes for the posts and a tripod mount at the end. It works well.
I got my current helmet thru a BMW event several years back. I haven't looked into buying any for years. I didn't like the full face helmet I used at first.

Very cool, Richard. I can't wait to get out to PIR in the spring. It looked like you were allowing the SAT to handle the upshifts and you were downshifting with the paddles, is that right? Were you in D mode with the Sport button enabled? Also DTC/DSC off?
Wind noise, you have to roll down the windows for safety reason.

Got a link to where you bought the mount from?
