I assumed he was going to be doing suspension work on both ends. And yeah - everything is harder on an -xi (except getting where you're going in the snow). ;-)

Zero I think I might have the highest high mile E60 N62. I'm currently at 278K. I've done most of the suspension my self but when purchased V1 KW coilcovers about 6 years ago I had them installed at my local indy(NJ). It comes down to time, tools and your availability. I supplied my indy with every suspension part possible while they were in there. I also had powerflex bushing installed, I also paid a shop to do that....What's still on my list to make my suspension 100% refreshed is sub frame bushing in the rear....I've been studying the job by watching youtube videos and also going around getting quotes from local shops. My goal is to change out those old rubbers with some powerflex ones because as you know our rear tires wear out in about 2 years...If I find a decent quote from a reputable shop I'll let them do it....If I don't find a decent quote I may just split the job where I'll pull out the subframe, bring to a shop and let them press out the bushing and replace them with powerflex ones and then bring back home and reinstall my self....So I've used a combo of indy shops and my elbow grease...There are times I just don't have the time or patients, and I want done now!

Not sure why you'd pull the subframe out to do any (normal) suspension work. I suppose it's an option, but would have to think that pulling the subframe would be harder than just swapping out all the suspension components.

Also, if you're planning on using the (much stiffer) Powerflex bushings, I hope you are OK with the loss of ride quality / noise levels.

Jaystyles, I'm surprised that you were able to supply your own parts and the indie agreed to install them. I thought that was the equivalent of bringing food to a restaurant and asking them to cook it for you, and as such it was a no-no.
If I thought I could order my own OEM parts and have an indie install them, I'd go that route. The last indie I used sparingly insisted on BMW dealer parts which created a ridiculous mark-up; won't be going back to him.
Let me know your secret to supplying parts to local repair shops who do the work.
