550i redline

My Ride: 2008 BMW 550i Titanium Silver Metallic Automatic Transmission, Ventilated Comfort Seats in Beige Nasca Leather, Light Popular Trim, NAV, HUD, Active Steering, Night Vision, Cruise Control, Logic 7, Blue tooth Hands Free, Dynamic Stability, Soft Close, Heated Steering wheel, Dynamic Drive, Voice commands

The 2007 5 series models have redline at 6500rpm, but i saw the 2008 broschure(530i shown) and it had redline at 7000rpm. just wanted to ask if all the new 1's have redline at 7000rpm.

6500 is the redline. I'd guess the lighter crankshaft (no counterweights), simpler timing chain setup, and better natural balance help the I-6 get a few more RPM safely.

The redline is 6500 but on mine, the rev limiter bars never go away (hovering at the 6200/6300 rpm mark)

If it's like my past BMWs, the limiter kicks in at redline; that's the warning band.
